The Alki Business Group would like to address the
parking problems along Alki Beach. Along with the
Alki Community Council, we agree that parking is
a significant concern in our community. When the Alki
Community Council presented petitions to the
residents regarding a Residential
Parking Zone (RPZ), the action
only served to underscore the
need for an effective dialogue
on this topic.
This article is in response to the request to open up the no parking area on Alki Ave SW. At the request of the Alki Business Group, a newly formed
organization of local businesses, the agenda
topic of the September Alki Community Council
meeting is the no-parking zone on the water side of
Alki Avenue.
Ali Elementary News and Alki Homestead Community Dinner One of my favorite shows on TV is Mythbusters.
It’s a program that takes urban legends and other
myths and uses modern-day science to show you
what’s real and what’s fiction. This summer, Seattle papers have been filled with
assertions and presumptions regarding the residents
of Alki and the Alki Community Council. I’m here to
do some of my own mythbusting!
Alki Community Council (ACC) members may be confused by the flurry of negative letters to the editor of the West Seattle Herald with allegations directed at their executive board. We are concerned the letter writers don’t understand the council or the many things the ACC has accomplished over the years that make Alki such a wonderful community.
