Welcome to the Alki Wildlife Habitat Project! The Alki Community Council has formed the
Alki Wildlife Habitat Project to promote
neighborhood involvement in restoring the
natural legacy of our community as we work
to qualify the Alki community as a
“Community Wildlife Habitat” under the
guidelines of the National Wildlife Federation.
Please take a moment to view our site and learn how your yard
or balcony can become a certified Wildlife Habitat!

We’re getting closer!!!!

78 homes and apartments have become "certified backyard wildlife habitats" A great start on the way to our goal of 158 certified homes!

Schmitz Preserve Park and Cormorant Cove Park are the most recent Alki neighborhood parks to become certified wildlife habitats.

The Log House Museum gardens feature examples of native plants grown to lush maturity in its certified habitat.

Nantes Park, the former Alki Substation, at 5062 SW Admiral Way boasts a butterfly and hummingbird garden that is a certified wildlife habitat.

Luna Park on the Duwamish Point is a certified wildlife habitat with a hand-crafted water feature designed by local artist Lezlie
Jane.

A planting strip
at the corner of SW Hinds and 63rd Avenue SW shows how a formerly boring strip
of grass can be transformed into a wildlife habitat paradise.

Elementary School students, parents and teachers have created two certified
wildlife habitats on their school grounds.
